Our impossible goal

That kid on the home page? That's 10-year old Carmelo. He thinks skateboarding can fund research, and treatments for Celiac disease. Let's show that he can.

Carmelo was diagnosed with Celiac a couple years ago. And it threw all our lives into constant fear and chaos. No, it's not cancer. No, if he eats a little bit of gluten, he won't die. At least not today. But he will get really really sick. And if you have kids, or just even care at all about the suffering of children, you can imagine how hard it is for parents to see their child in such pain. And there's not much we can do. 

Celiac Disease is an often misunderstood, wildly un-diagnosed, autoimmune disease triggered by gluten consumption (no, no, no, it's not a "gluten allergy") which makes it difficult for him to retain the nutrients from the food he eats. It's painful, it's isolating, it's frustrating, and constantly stressful. 

So birthday parties where all his little friends are eating cake & pizza? Nope. 

Going out to eat? Nope.

Snack time at school, staying over at a friends for dinner and a sleepover, even our own kitchen is dangerous. Yeah, it's hard on us. And much much harder on Carmelo.

But he's a skater. And if there's one thing that all skaters excel at, it's getting back up. Again, and again, and again.

He's also an artist. One day, a few months after the diagnosis, as he was just starting to feel better, he came home with drawing, a name, and an idea.
